Cold Laser Treatment

The use of laser therapy in medical practice is not new but is rapidly finding more uses to aid the healing of animal patients.  Cold lasers, unlike “hot” lasers, do not cut nor burn.  Rather, they distribute light of a specific wavelength deep into tissues; much deeper than ordinary visible light would ever travel.  When this light energy reaches the target tissues, several beneficial effects begin to occur. These include:

Anti-Inflammation: Laser therapy opens blood vessels and lymphatic flow decreasing swelling and inflammation.

Anti-Pain: Laser therapy blocks pain impulses in nerve endings and helps the body produce pain killing chemicals.

Accelerated Tissue Repair: Light that penetrates deep into the tissues adds energy to cells and this accelerates cell growth and tissue repair.

Improved Vascular Activity: Laser light stimulates the growth of new capillaries that also aid healing.

Increased Metabolic Activity: Laser light stimulates metabolic functions within cells.

Reduced Scar Formation: Laser light reduces scar formation in cuts, bruises, burns and surgical wounds.

Improved Nerve Function: Laser light speeds up nerve a function which in turn allows cells and tissues to function and repair more effectively.

Immunoregulation: Laser light stimulates many aspects of the immune system to aid healing.

Improved Wound Healing: All types of wounds heal faster as collagen producing cells grow faster.
